Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish – Hardwearing Floor Varnish for All Interior Wooden Floors

Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish offers all the benefits of a traditional water-based varnish – low odour, quick drying and fast recoat time – with the inclusion of polyurethane to give a tougher, more hardwearing finish.

This wooden floor varnish is suitable for use on all hardwood, softwood, and parquet flooring. The addition of polyurethane gives a tough, hardwearing finish, making it ideal for use in areas with high traffic such as landings, hallways, entryways, and stairs. As well as offering excellent protection, this product also provides an easy-to-clean surface that is that is spill and stain resistant – perfect for a busy family home.

Note: Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish is not suitable for use on laminate flooring.

PREPARATION:

We recommend a trial application before you start. The final colour and finish will depend on the original colour, condition of your wood and number of coats applied.

PREVIOUSLY WOODSTAINED AND/OR VARNISHED FLOORS: If previous coating removal is required, sand thoroughly using a drum sander to remove any surface irregularities and traces of finish. Surfaces previously coated with Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish may only require a light sanding. Use a small electric sander or sand by hand to finish off around the edges. Remove all sanding dust by vacuuming.

UNTREATED FLOORS: Degrease oily or resinous timbers by wiping over with a lint free cloth dampened with cellulose thinners or methylated spirits. Allow to dry thoroughly.

COATING OVER A STAINED FINISH: Allow solvent-borne woodstains to dry for at least 3 - 5 days before applying Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish. Water-borne woodstains can normally be overcoated within 24 hours, but advice from the relevant manufacturer should be sought.

PLEASE NOTE: Some discolouration of the finish may occur when Sadolin Polyurethane Floor Varnish is applied over pale shades of paint / colourwash - a trial application is recommended before proceeding with the entire floor.

APPLICATION:

Stir well before and during application. Do not apply at temperatures below 8°C or above 25°C. For best results apply when floor temperature is between 10°C and 25°C, and the relative humidity is above 65% during application and drying periods. Avoid direct sunlight on the floor during application of the varnish. For best results use a wide bristled synthetic brush or a suitable roller to apply. For easier application pour a small amount of material onto the surface then spread evenly with a roller or brush. Brush or roll out evenly in the direction of the grain. When applying to floor boards brush over 3-4 boards at a time to avoid overlaps. Do not over-brush as this will result in an inadequately thin coating. Sand lightly between coats if there is any raised grain. Apply up to 3 coats for optimum durability. Remove any surface dust before applying further coats. Avoid any heavy foot traffic to the surface for at least 24 hours. To ensure thorough curing, one week should be allowed prior to the introduction of carpets, rugs or heavy furniture.
