Sadolin Superdec Satin – Opaque Exterior Wood Finish With 10 Year Protection
Sadolin Superdec Satin is a hardwearing, opaque finish for all exterior wooden joinery and cladding with 10 years’ durable protection.
Providing a flexible coating which resists flaking, peeling, and cracking, Superdec offers advanced water-based wood protection for exterior doors, windows, garden furniture, conservatories, soffits, and fascias.
Protective Wood Treatment for Exterior Doors, Windows, and Conservatories
Sadolin Superdec Satin provides exterior wood around the home with opaque, low-sheen colour and a flexible coating that resists flaking and cracking. An advanced outdoor wood treatment, Superdec has a microporous finish which allows wooden surfaces to breathe and contains a biocide to protect against wood-destroying fungi.
With no need for a separate primer undercoat, Sadolin Superdec Satin can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces, and is ideal for a complete change of colour or where an existing surface has become weathered. This unique formula helps to hide blemishes and imperfections on wooden surfaces, whilst providing a beautiful and durable finish.
Wood Protector with Sophisticated, Opaque Colour
PREPARATION:
We recommend a trial application before you start. The final colour and coverage will depend on the original colour and condition of the surface and number of coats applied. All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the coating, including dust, grease, wax, resin and any timber extractives. Once prepared clean all surfaces with warm water and mild detergent, rinse and allow to dry.
LOW GRADE or RESINOUS TIMBER: Treatments of resinous knots are recommended by drilling out and filling, or the application of an appropriate blocking primer.
NEW OR BARE WOOD: Grey denatured timber will require sanding back to a clean, bright, sound surface. Degrease with methylated spirits using a clean, lint free cloth. If required treat with Sadolin Quick Dry Wood Preserver paying special attention to freshly cut end grains. Fill small holes with Sadolin Woodfiller, sand in the direction of the grain.
PREVIOUSLY VARNISHED SURFACES: Strip back and treat as new wood.
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED OR WOODSTAINED SURFACES: Remove any loose or flaking coating with a scraper or abrasive paper. Grey denatured timber or surfaces in poor condition will need sanding back to a clean, bright sound surface and treating as new wood. Do not use wire wool. Existing sound glossy surfaces should be flattened off to provide a good key. Clean as above.
WEATHERED PLASTIC AND COMPOSITE SURFACES: On smooth shiny surfaces flatten off using a Scotch-Brite pad to provide a key. Clean as above.
METAL SURFACES: Can be used on steel. Remove all rust and residues. Prime all bare metalwork with Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat.
CONCRETE, MASONRY, BRICK, STONE: Remove any loose or flaking coating with a scraper or stiff bristle brush (not wire). Organic growth must be removed using Sandtex Fungicidal Wash. Fill small cracks with Sandtex Ready Mixed Filler. Stabilise all bare, filled and previously decorated chalking areas with Sandtex Trade Quick Dry Stabilising Solution. New concrete must be cured 30 days before coating. Clean glossy painted surfaces as above. As with all coatings preparation is key and poor preparation will result in poor coating performance.
APPLICATION:
Always intermix packs for colour consistency. Stir well before and during application.
Ensure surfaces to be coated are clean and dry. Do not apply in damp conditions, when rain is imminent, or at temperatures below 8ºC or above 25ºC. Apply by synthetic brush, roller or airless spray. Please refer to spray manufacturer’s instructions for further guidance. Sand lightly between coats if grain is raised. New work requires 3 coats. Maintenance work requires 2-3 coats depending on weathering.
