Sandtex® 10 Year Primer Undercoat
This durable multi-surface primer and undercoat provides a perfect foundation for Sandtex® exterior gloss and satin paints, with 10 years’ trusted protection against the elements for a long-lasting finish.
Sandtex® 10 Year Primer Undercoat can be used on exterior wood and metal surfaces outside the home, creating an ideal base ready for application of exterior gloss and satin paints to doors, window frames, sheds, fences, railings, garden furniture and more. Used in conjunction with Sandtex® 10 Year Gloss and Sandtex® One Coat Gloss, this flexible primer undercoat helps reduce cracking and peeling of outdoor paint.

Our 10 Year Primer Undercoat can be used as both a bare wood and metal surface primer and as an undercoat for primed or pre-painted surfaces, removing the need for two separate products and helping you to save time and money.

PREPARATION: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, grease or surface contamination. Any grey or denatured timber will need sanding back to a clean smooth surface.
For bare wood: Ensure the wood is dry. Treat knots and resinous parts with knotting solution. For previously painted surfaces: Wash with warm water detergent solution, rinse well with clean water and allow to dry. Thoroughly abrade and dust off. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Remove all loose, flaking or suspect paint coatings. Fill all voids and gaps with a suitable exterior filler. Apply one coat of Sandtex 10 year Primer Undercoat, to seal the wood, followed by one or two coats of Sandtex 10 year Exterior Gloss as necessary.
For metal surfaces: This sytem can be applied to suitably primed metal. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960's paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead. For further advice contact the manufacturer.
APPLICATION: Stir thoroughly before use. Apply by brush. Apply evenly and avoid overspreading. Clean brushes immediately after use with a proprietary cleaner. Do not apply if there is a risk of rain or if the temperature is likely to fall below 8°C.
