Shellac-based patent knotting solution for sealing knots on bare timber and other resinous areas prior to the application of varnishes and lighter paints. Patent shellac knotting solution is semi-transparent, shake well and apply the solution liberally to prepared bare timber, over and around the knot or resinous area with a brush. Allow to dry between coats, minimum 1 hour. Over-coated with a water-based coating system, apply the knotting solution more sparingly, and once dry, lightly abrade the surface to provide a key before over-coating. Knotting solution can really only hold back extractive staining, from knots and resinous areas of timber bleeding through the paint coating film. ONLY FOR SALE TO THE UK MAINLAND.
